About this piece
Mahogany is the darker, quieter of our two main woods. Tight grain, deep reddish brown, and it reads more formal than oak on a wall.
This is the same inch and a half board as our oak floating shelf, cut from 12 to 84 inches and hung on a hidden steel bracket that mounts into studs. A long 72 inch run sits over most sofas and dining tables. The 12 to 24 inch lengths do well in entryways and above nightstands. And a run does not stop at 84: the shelves are modular, so boards join end to end for a wall-length shelf at any length.
If you want it darker still, we stain the mahogany walnut. Poplar is the option if you plan to paint.
Grain and color shift from board to board. Yours may not match the photo exactly, and that is the point of solid wood.
