About this piece
A single board of solid oak, an inch and a half thick, finished by hand in our Brooklyn shop. Real wood through the whole shelf. No veneer, no hollow core.
The heavy duty steel bracket mounts into your studs and the floating shelf slides onto it. Nothing shows underneath.
We cut these from 12 to 84 inches long and up to 12 inches deep. The 60 inch is what we ship most, usually over a sofa or a desk. The 30 and 48 inch cuts fit bathroom and entry walls. The long 72 and 84 inch shelves go above kitchen counters. If the size you need falls between the standard cuts, a 50 inch say, we make it as a custom order. And past 84 inches, the shelves are modular: two boards join end to end on the same bracket line, so a run can go the full length of a wall.
Oak runs warm with an open grain. The same shelf comes in mahogany, walnut stain, or poplar for painting.
Every board is different, so color and grain vary from shelf to shelf.
