Mahogany is also resistant to moisture and will not warp or rot, making it a great choice for floating bathroom shelves because it’s easy to clean, resists mold and mildew, and doesn’t absorb moisture from shower steam.

From comfortable Leather Lap Desks to technologically advanced NYC Realtime Subway Clocks, NookWoodworking has something for everyone.

How Does the NYC Realtime Subway Clock Work?

Our NYC Realtime Subway Clock utilizes a real-time feed of current subway times to accurately display the comings and goings of the New York City subway system.

Each subway train time clock employs a mini-computer that downloads the data from the NYC Real-Time app. The clock then uses this data to display the train times on its LCD screen. If a train is late or early, the time will automatically adjust itself to reflect that. The subway clock is powered by an AC adapter (included) and can be placed anywhere in your home or office.

Can the NYC Subway Clock display Bus Times?

Current technology does not allow access to the NYC bus arrival and departure times. Rest assured, should such technology ever become available we would be happy to implement it.

What is Full Grain Leather?

The highest quality of leather available, full grain leather is made for the strongest and most durable part of an animal's hide ensuring a lifetime of use. As full grain leather is not sanded or buffed during the tanning process it is able to retain its natural shape and durability while maintaining a breathable and comfortable feel. Thanks to the above, full grain leather develops an attractive patina over time which adds to the unique character and distinctive look of each piece.

What are NookWoodworking's Plant Propagation Stations?

Make plant propagation a breeze with NookWoodworking's stylish and functional propagation shelf. Crafted from high-quality oak or mahogany wood and delicately finished with sumptuous Danish oil, our propagation stations provide the ideal environment for your plant cuttings to take root. Effortlessly double your plant stock and enhance the variety of plants in your home with our propagation solution.

How to Propagate Your Plants: A Primer?

Are you a proud plant parent with a healthy and thriving plant? Consider propagating it! Plant propagation is the process of taking a cutting from your existing plant and growing it into a whole new plant. It is an excellent way to expand your plant collection and add diversity to your indoor garden. To successfully propagate your plant, you will need the following:

-A healthy plant
-Water
-Clean shears
-NookWoodworking’s Plant Propagation Station

While any tall or skinny glass can be used to propagate your plant, we recommend our Propagation Shelf from NookWoodworking. It provides the ideal space for your cuttings to root and can be easily wall-mounted – an added bonus if you have mischievous cats! Propagate your plant in three simple steps:

1) Identify the node where you'll cut your plant. Nodes are the bumpy points on your plant where future growth will emerge.
2) Make a diagonal cut just below the lowest node of your cutting.
3) Fill the test tube vase(s) provided with your NookWoodworking's propagation shelves about a quarter of the way with water, and place your cutting in the vase.

That’s it! Over time, you’ll notice your plant developing healthy roots. Remember to refill the water as needed. Once your cutting has grown healthy roots that are at least 4"" inches long, you can transplant it into moist soil and start the process anew.

How Many Cuttings Can My Plant Propagation Station Hold?

NookWoodworking offers propagation stations in various sizes and shapes, and the capacity for cuttings you can propagate on one oak or mahogany shelf depends on the shelf’s dimensions. Generally, the smallest geometric shelf can hold one test tube, which is perfect for showcasing individual cuttings.

The maximum number of propagation test tubes our shelves can accommodate is eight. However, if you have a custom size or shape in mind, we're happy to work with you to bring to life a custom propagation station just for you.

What plants Can I Propagate in My Propagation Shelf?

Not all plants are equally suited for water propagation. We recommend selecting low-maintenance and adaptable plants for this method. Thankfully, there are numerous plant varieties that fit this category, so you have plenty of options. Some of our favorite plants to propagate in our propagation shelves include Philodendrons, Wandering Jews, Bamboo, Spider Plants, Pothos, and more!

How Do I Care for My Plant Propagation Station and Test Tube Vases?

To ensure the longevity and quality of your plant propagation shelf, avoid using harsh chemicals or household cleaning agents. A soft, dry cloth is all you need. After each propagation, use a cotton swab or paper towel to clean the test tube vases to maintain their cleanliness and sterility.
