Cord Hole Shelves

8 products

Floating shelves with a grommet hole drilled at the back: the cord drops through and runs down behind the board, so the device shows and the wire does not.

Thin cord hole shelves suit chargers, speakers, and routers. Thick versions carry consoles and receivers, with rounded corner variants for desks and media walls. The corner cord hole shelf handles the router that lives in the corner. All solid oak or mahogany, built in Brooklyn.

A regular floating shelf with one addition: a grommet hole at the back edge. Whatever sits on the shelf plugs in through the hole, and the cable drops behind the board instead of running down the face of your wall. The shelf mounts on a hidden steel bracket like the rest of our line, so there is no visible hardware either. Wires and brackets both disappear.

Anything with a wire. The regulars: a router and modem up off the floor, powered speakers flanking a desk or turntable, a lamp on a bedside shelf, a game console under the TV, and a charging cable fed up through the hole so a phone tops up overnight. One shelf per device zone usually clears an entire wall of cable clutter.

Barely. The grommet sits at the back edge of the board, so the object in front of it hides it from most angles. On dark mahogany it nearly vanishes even on an empty shelf. If the shelf is above eye level, you will never see it at all.

The full thick-shelf range: 12 to 84 inches long, 4 to 12 inches deep, an inch and a half thick, on hidden brackets rated around 45 to 50 pounds per stud. Woods are oak and mahogany, with walnut stain and paint-grade poplar on most listings. Between sizes, we cut custom.

That is one of its best jobs. Mount it at mattress height, feed a charging cable up through the grommet, and the nightstand holds a phone, a lamp, and a book with no cords dangling and no furniture legs on the floor. A 12 to 24 inch shelf is the usual bedside size.
