Modular shelves for long walls and corner layouts

Modular shelving joins solid wood boards end to end into one continuous run: past 84 inches, around a corner, along an entire wall. Each board connects to the next with a tongue and groove joint, so the finished run reads as a single shelf rather than a row of separate ones.
The boards are the same solid oak and mahogany as our floating shelves, cut in Brooklyn and mounted on the same hidden steel brackets. Sketch the wall you have in mind, send it through the form above, and we quote the exact run.
What is modular shelving?
A way to get one continuous shelf longer than any single board. Our longest single floating shelf is 84 inches; past that, modular shelving joins boards end to end with tongue and groove joinery so the run keeps going as far as your wall does.
How long can a modular shelf run be?
As long as the wall. Each board in the run mounts on its own hidden brackets into your studs, so adding length adds support with it. A 12 foot run is carried the same way as a 3 foot shelf: stud by stud.
Can modular shelves wrap around a corner?
Yes. An L-shaped run turns an inside corner and continues down the second wall, which is how a shelf runs the full perimeter of an office or wraps a reading nook. Corners are part of the sketch you send with your request.
How do the boards connect?
A tongue cut into the end of one board slides into a groove cut into the next. The joint aligns the two faces so the seam sits tight and the grain reads through, with no connector hardware visible.
How do I order a modular shelving unit?
Use the request form on this page. Include a rough sketch of the wall with lengths, depth, and the wood you want; hand-drawn is fine, most of them are. We come back with a quote and a build plan for your exact run.
