About this piece

This is the slim version of our oak floating shelf, 6 to 36 inches long and 3 to 8 inches deep. The proportions suit spice jars, paperbacks, plants, and framed photos. A single 6 inch shelf fits the spots nothing else does: between windows, above a light switch.

It is a thin floating shelf cut from a single piece of solid oak, on hidden brackets. It sits close to the wall and keeps a narrow line, which lets you stack two or three above each other without crowding a room.

Wood options run light to dark: oak, maple, mahogany, then mahogany with a walnut stain. Poplar is the paint-grade choice.

If you need longer or deeper, our thick shelf goes to 84 inches and 12 deep.

Can I choose a thicker version for a more robust look?

Yes, we do have thicker shelf options that will give your floating shelf a more solid, substantial look compared to our thinner shelves.

What makes this shelf “thin” and how does that affect depth and profile?

This shelf is perfect for a narrow or minimalist wall shelf because it has a slimmer profile and comes in shorter lengths.

What kind of items is this shelf best suited to display?

This shelf is perfect for displaying small décor pieces, picture frames, plants, trinkets, or other lighter display items because of its thin profile and narrower depth. It is less suitable for heavy books or large objects.

What is the advantage of choosing this thinner profile compared to a thicker floating shelf?

The thinner design gives it a lighter, modern look. It’s great for smaller spaces and keeps that clean, minimalist floating shelf style while still using high-quality materials.

Does the shelf have a finish applied?

Our shelves can be either finished or unfinished! If finished, we use a protective Danish oil that preserves the wood grain and color.

If unfinished, the wood will be sanded to 220 grit and will be ready for an on-site custom stain or finish.
