About this piece

In dark mahogany, the double curve front reads as a shadow line: a long wave over a bed or sofa where a straight shelf would disappear. It is the statement version of a floating shelf, and it still holds books.

Sizes run 12 to 84 inches long, 4 to 12 deep, an inch and a half thick, on hidden brackets.

Walnut stain darkens it further; oak and paint-grade poplar go the other way.

The oak version shows the wave in the grain. The mahogany shows it in silhouette.

Add a routed groove for LED strip lighting through the form on this page. The wave gets a glow line; the light itself is not included.

What does the curved edge look like?

The front edge is cut as a pair of nested curves, one shallow and one deep. In dark mahogany the curved edge reads as a shadowed wave across the shelf front.

What does a curved floating shelf add to a room?

A curved floating shelf breaks up walls full of straight lines. In mahogany the curve reads as a dark sweep, a small piece of sculpture that also holds things.

Is an LED channel available on the curved shelf?

Yes. We mill the channel to the width, depth, and position you enter in the listing form. The LED strip itself is not included.

How much weight can it hold?

Behind the curves it is the same 1 1/2 inch solid mahogany on a hidden steel bracket, rated at roughly 45 to 50 pounds per stud.

Can I order this in other wood types besides oak and mahogany?

Yes. Maple is available, poplar suits painting, and white oak comes as a custom request; email support@nookwoodworking.com for any of them on this design.
